Details

The fine detail of your photo, in Open Negative Initiative. Sharpening, colour noise and texture, judged in the loupe at the head of the tab, on your scan's full-resolution pixels.

The editor on the Details tab: Sharpening, then Chroma Denoise with its Amount slider at 20%, beside a glass lift lit green on a Paris pavement at night.

Sharpening

Sharpens edges without adding colour fringing. It rests on, at 1.00×; a double click on Amount switches it off. On a contact sheet it is off and greyed, its values kept.

Sharpening

Sharpens edges on the brightness alone, so no colour fringing. Amount says how strongly, Radius at what size in your file's full-resolution pixels, and Halo limit how far an edge may go past its neighbours.

  • It rests on, at 1.00×. A double click on Amount returns 0.00× and switches it off; the block's reset turns it on again.
  • Radius sits at 2.1 px in the middle of its track, so the small radii get half of it.
  • Judge it in the loupe at the head of the Details tab, which shows your photo at full resolution.
  • On a contact sheet it is off and greyed, its values kept for when a photo takes them.

Chroma Denoise

Smooths colour noise from the scan, after the inversion, without touching the film grain. It rests on, at 20% and 4.0 px; hidden in B&W, off and greyed on a contact sheet.

Contrast at the scale of hair and fabric. The track is asymmetric: more room to add than to take away.
