Carries
A preset stores the names of rows, not a picture. The white balance is a choice rather than a box, because manual and automatic write the same two rows.
White balance in a preset
A three-way choice, not a box: Not carried leaves every photo its own balance, Copied WB pastes this photo's gains as numbers, and Automatic WB re-measures each photo by its named method.

- Carried by a preset
- Nothing to carry: it is a gesture or a reading, not a setting.
- Not carried for a look, contrast, grade, detail, applied to photos whose balance is already right.
- Automatic WB for a whole workflow in one press: each frame is measured and graded the same way.
- Copied WB for frames of one roll on one copy stand, where the numbers really are the same; never across rolls.
- A new preset opens on Not carried whatever the frame moved, so a look never carries a balance unasked.
What a preset carries
Sixteen boxes, grouped by panel, each all or nothing, hold everything a preset can carry. Crop, straightening, rotation, the conversion mode, the roll and painted corrections never travel with it.

- Carried by a preset
- Nothing to carry: it is a gesture or a reading, not a setting.
- A box is all or nothing: the interface dials its rows as one gesture, so half a box would show a state no panel can.
- Framing depends on this frame's content, so it travels only by Copy framing in the Frame panel, never by a preset.
- A new preset opens with every row ticked, except white balance, which opens on Not carried.
- A preset is one JSON file, shared by sending it and deleted by throwing it away; its name is decoration.
- Hovering a preset previews it on the canvas; clicking applies it to the selection, or the open photo.
